Dear Readers:
Several weeks ago, I published The Gift That Keeps on Giving, an essay about the chesed projects that we run in Yeshiva Darchei Noam, where I serve as Dean.
Last night I had the pleasure of accompanying many of our talmidim and their fathers to the local Tomchei Shabbos distribution center. Our N’shei held a Mother-and-Son event last week where our talmidim prepared Tu B'Shevat nosh baskets for the Monsey families that receive Tomchei Shabbos food packages. It was very inspiring to watch my talmidim participate hands-on in yet another portion of our ongoing chesed program and to listen to their impressions of what it meant to them.
You can view pictures of the talmidim at the Tomchei Shabbos distribution center by clicking HERE.
I am also a very firm believer in facilitating Yeshiva events and activities that allow our talmidim to shine in activities that take place outside the walls of Darchei Noam. This coming Motzei Shabbos, our talmidim are conducting both musical and drama presentations – “Shiru Lo” and “Take Two Diamonds and Call Me in the Morning.”
The events will take place this Motzei Shabbos Parshas B’shalach, January 30th, 2010 in Pomona Middle School (101 Pomona Rd.) at 7:30 p.m. If you live in the Monsey area and would like to attend, please call our office today at 845-352-7100 x 110.
All I can say is that I was bursting with pride as I watched our talmidim prepare for their performances last night, and I look forward to watching them in their entirety.
Best wishes for a Gutten Shabbos,
Rabbi Yakov Horowitz
