Are You Word or Excel??
An Invitation to Join Our Parenting Series
Which of these 2 scripts are more likely to motivate you to attend a parenting class about effective techniques for doing homework with your children?
1) "Recapturing the Magic"
Remember when your son came home from Kindergarten so eager to show off his knowledge of the Parsha questions he learned in school, and how much you looked forward to those magical moments spent doing his homework with him? Do you find yourself wishing that you could turn back the clock seven years and enjoy your son's homework time that way - despite the fact that he is a 5th grader?
If this sounds like you; come to the exciting parenting workshop which will give you the skills to have your son begging to do his homework with you!
2) "Save Thousands of Dollars and Hundreds of Hours Each School Year"
Are you frustrated at having to spend thousands of dollars on tutors for your 5th grade son on top of your tuition bill? Do you find yourself wondering why you need to spend your evenings quarreling with your son to do his homework? Wouldn't it be wonderful if he would just sit down with you and knock off his homework so you can unwind after a long day at the office?
Well; just invest 60 minutes in a parenting class, Sunday morning learning how to effectively do homework with your son. You will make back that time in the first week or two and it's all gravy afterwards.
Welcome to the world of learning and personality profiles.
Pitch #1 was emotion-based or "Word", while #2 was logic-driven or "Excel". (I like to think of these 2 diverse learning patterns in terms of Microsoft Programs.)
Understanding how your mind and the minds of the other people in your life process information, can help you communicate better with your loved ones especially since spouses are very often, or almost always polar opposites as far as these patterns are concerned (Shadchanim; take note!).
It will also help you problem-solve when your son or daughter is underachieving in school or having trouble following instructions from the adults in his/her life.
For those who live in the Greater NY Area: If you want to learn more about this stimulating and thought-provoking topic (Word) and gain practical take-away tips (Excel), perhaps consider joining the first of this year's Yeshiva Darchei Noam Parenting Classes which will take place this Sunday, October 28th. The session is titled "Understanding the Diverse Learning/Personality Profiles of Your Children (...and that of your spouse)".
The workshop will take place in the shul of our Yeshiva at 11:45 a.m. and will end at 12:40.
Yeshiva Darchei Noam is located at:
257 Grandview Ave.
Suffern NY 10901.
For GPS try using either Monsey or Montebello as your city, not Suffern.
Admission is free, but we ask that non-Darchei Noam parents who attend consider making a donation to our Yeshiva.
I am really looking forward to seeing you there (Word), and please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org so we can prepare seating and handouts (Excel).
Important Note: Due to the fact that parking space at our Yeshiva is limited, please RSVP so that we will arrange to accommodate you.
If there is sufficient interest among those who live outside the area, and if we can secure a sponsor, we will consider professionally recording the session.
Kindly send an email to email@example.com if you would like the session recorded, and/or if you can assist with a full or partial sponsorship.
Best wishes for a Gutten Shabbos,
