7/15/13
Dear Readers:
Once again, this year, we will be conducting a teleconference call designed to provide a venue for the reading of Eicha for mothers who are home with their children, or for people who are homebound for any other reason.
The call will begin at 10:15 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time with approximately 15 minutes of Torah thoughts on Tisha B'Av-related topics, followed by the reading of Eicha
This teleconference is dedicated in loving memory of our dear father, Reb Shlomo Zev ben Reb Baruch Yehudah A"H whose Yahrtzeit is the 7th of Av. May the ze'chusim generated by this mitzvah be a ze'chus for his neshama.

Pre-Readings for Tonight’s Eicha Teleconference Shiur
As I would like to keep tonight’s pre-Eicha shiur to under 20 minutes; please find some links to pre-readings below should you wish to delve more deeply into some of the issues that I will addressing this evening.
The topics for the shiur are:
• The Torah’s charge to us to protect and stand with the weak, oppressed and abused people in our communities
• The cycle of exile and rebirth – why it happens and what the message is for us
• The topic of karbonos (animal sacrifices) raised so often during the prophecies of Yirmiyahu and Yeshayhu in a negative vein (as in, “Hashem doesn’t need/want your korbonos if you are sinning)
• The differences between the 2 mizbachos (altars); the copper and golden ones
• Why so many tefilos and mitzvos contain mention of Hashem taking us out of Egypt
• An insight into Yirmiyahu’s wish to run away to the desert as mentioned in the haftorah of Tisha B’av
