School Description:
For almost one hundred years, Associated Hebrew Schools of Toronto has been at the cutting edge of Jewish day school education. From a handful of Talmud Torah students, Associated has grown to become the largest Jewish day school of its kind in the world. Today, we have three campuses in the greater Toronto area, with a total enrollment of 2,000 children from nursery to Grade 8. From the days of slate boards and “cheder” style learning, we have evolved to be high-tech and on-line. Students do research projects on the Internet, and regularly prepare “PowerPoint” presentations. Our graduates, literally thousands over the past 96 years, have gone on to assume leadership roles in the Jewish community and as citizens of Canada.
Associated was established to meet the educational needs of Toronto’s Jewish population. Today’s children face a world changing at the speed of light. As never before, the foundations of Jewish life that we have taken for granted are being challenged. This reality encourages us to continually refine our identity and purpose as a Jewish Day School. We are proud of who we are, what we do, and our direction for the future. Ours is a history grounded in tradition and rich with success.
Our ongoing commitment is to be the “day school of choice”. To achieve this goal, our senior educators, teachers, administrators and lay leaders have come together with a shared vision:
Every Jewish child has a right to a Jewish day school education
No child shall be denied Jewish education because of financial need
We are committed to providing excellence in education
We teach and role model the importance of Jewish values, personal accountability, and civic responsibility
We strive to help each child discover and further their personal gifts, while teaching children to be productive members of their community.
