Parent Mentors and their Credentials
Project Y.E.S. Parent Mentors are not therapists, psychologists, or doctors. They are concerned neighbors, friends, confidants,
and sounding boards. The Parent Mentoring Program is staffed by well trained and highly motivated volunteers who are empathic,
receptive and sensitive to the needs of others, and would like to pass their knowledge of parenting on to parents who find
themselves struggling with the hardships of parenting. Parent Mentors attend two ninety-minute training sessions conducted by
a licensed mental health professional. Additionally, Parent Mentors receive thirty minutes of weekly supervision under the
auspices of a licensed mental health professional, and all mentors are required to present an update report after each mentoring
session. Parent Mentors come from all walks of life and range professionally from being accountants, lawyers, dentists, school
teachers, electricians, sales people, rebbiem, and housewives.
